7.2 Messages in Part 2 of the RDR standard in context of this part of the standards

Part 2 of the RDR standard includes three messages relevant in the context of rights claim conflict resolution, namely the DeclarationOfSoundRecordingRightsClaim, the RightsClaimStatusUpdate and the RevokeSoundRecordingRightsClaim.

More detailed information about Part 2 of the RDR standard messages is here.

The DeclarationOfSoundRecordingRightsClaim enables a record company, performer or third-party facilitator to notify a music licensing company of a rights claim in a resource.

Upon receipt of a DeclarationOfSoundRecordingRightsClaim the music licensing company is expected to ingest the data into their systems and determine the status of the rights claimed for that particular resource. This may result in the identification of a rights claim conflict. Where all parties are using the messages of Part 2 of the RDR standard, the music licensing company can inform the record company, performer or third-party facilitator of the rights claim conflict using the RightsClaimStatusUpdate.

Figures 2 below describes the process of data exchange for declaring the rights claimed in a resource and shows which party send which message in Part 2 of the RDR standard.
